لا تنسوا صيام:
1) الإثنين والثلاثاء (التاسع والعاشر من شهر محرم وهو المستحب) أو
2) الثلاثاء والأربعاء (العاشر والحادي عشر من شهر محرم) أو
3) الإثنين والثلاثاء والأربعاء (التاسع والعاشر والحادي عشر من شهر محرم).

الهدف من صيام يوم قبل، بعد أو قبل وبعد يوم الإثنين، العاشر من محرم (عاشوراء) هو مخالفة اليهود لأنهم يصومون عاشوراء بمفرده.

عن أبي قتادة رضي اللَّه عنه، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "صيام يوم عاشوراء، أحتسب على اللَّه أن يكفر السنة التي قبله". أخرجه مسلم.

عن عبد اللَّه بن أبي يزيد أنه سمع ابن عباس رضي اللَّه عنهما وسئل عن صيام يوم عاشوراء؟ فقال: "ما علمت أن رسول اللَّه صلى الله عليه وسلم صام يوماً يطلب فضله على الأيام إلا هذا اليوم وهذا الشهر، يعني رمضان". أخرجه البخاري.

A REMINDER

Don’t forget to fast on:

1) Monday and Tuesday (the 5^th and 6^th of December corresponding to the 9^th and 10^th of Muharram which is encouraged “Mustahab”) OR

2) Tuesday and Wednesday (the 6^th and 7^th of December corresponding to the 10^th and 11^th of Muharram) OR

3) Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (the 5^th, 6^th and 7^th of December corresponding to the 9^th, 10^th and 11^th of Muharram).

The point of fasting a day before, after or both before and after Monday, the 10^th of Muharram (‘Ashurah) is to be different from the Jews as they fast on ‘Ashurah alone.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "For fasting the day of 'Ashura, I hope that Allah will accept it as expiation for the year that went before." [Reported by Muslim].

Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: "I never saw the Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, so keen to fast any day and give it priority over any other than this day, the day of 'Ashura, and this month, meaning Ramadhan." [Reported by Al-Bukhari].
