Goodreads ... One of my favourite places ... I haven't visited it for long and my reading was declining ... It's one of my soul nourishers but I did not seem to find time this semester ... Now that it ended, I discovered that I had hundreds of books in my "to-read" list and more than 10 in my "1st" list !!!
Deciding what to start off with, I noticed that I almost know nothing about the most beloved person that set foot on this Earth ... As usual, when I hold a book, I can not leave it and am angry when I do ... I was surprised to know from my sister that it held the 1st rank among all worldwide books talking about the same subject ....
While reading, I found myself writing down many things that would not fit in goodreads comments so I decided to place them here ... I noticed that I almost knew "nothing" about him , it is my first time to read something about him in depth ...

* The Prophet was nursed by Umm Ayman, his dad's slave and also by Thuwaybah, a slave of the Prophet's uncle Abu Lahab, who also nursed Hamzah bin Abdul-Muttalib and Abu-Salama bin Abdul-Asad Makhzooma ...

* Khabbab ibin Al-Aratt was tortured when he accepted Islam ....
* Zinira (a Roman slave girl) went blind to their severe torture due to her accepting Islam. She told them "if Allah willed, He could restore my eyesight" and the next day, she woke up to find herself seeing !!!
* Umar bin Al-Khattab tortured a slave girl when she accepted Islam ...
* Abu Jahl was chief of Banu Makhzooom to whom Ammar bin Yassir belonged ...
* Summayyah bint Khayat (Ammar Bin Yassir's mom) was the 1st martyr (Shaheeda) in Islam ... The way she was killed by Abu Jahl was ugly :( ....
* When Mus'aab ibn Umair accepted Islam, his mom kicked him out of the house and he had his skin peeled off by people !!
* Uthman bin Affan was tortured when he accepted Islam... Although he had a rank in his tribe and was very rich, this did not stop them ...
* Abu Bakr and Talha bin Ubaydullah were tied with the same rope (Qarayn) so that they could not pray ...
* When Abi bin Khalaf found his friend Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt sitting next to the prophet, he asked him to spit in his face, and he did !!!
* Abu Lahab and his wife Umm Jameel Ardi bint Harb asked their sons Utbah and Atiba to divorce the Prophet's daughters, Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthoom and they did ... One of the best divorces ever :) ...
* Umm Jameel (حمالة الحطب) used to scatter prickly wood in the Prophet and his companion's path ... Allah then revealed المسد ... Once, she held a rock, went near the Ka'abah where the Prophet and Abu Bakr were sitting but Allah seized her sight and she could only saw Abu Bakr !!! She asked him "where has your companion gone ?" !!!!
* Quraysh called the Prophet مُذمَم (violently condemned) instead of محمد (highly praised) ...
* Abu Jahl's real name was Abu Hakam (wisdom) but his behaviour earned him ignorance in Quraysh's sight ...
* Once, Abu Jahl was threatening and harassing the Prophet while he prayed. The prophet caught hold of a piece of cloth around his neck and told him أولى لك فأولى ، ثم أولى لك فأولى (verses in the Qur'an that means "Woe to you!! Woe to you!!") .... He then once came to the Prophet while he was praying so as to trample his face and neck into dust but retreated with his arms clawing at the air... The people asked him what prevented him from doing what he was willing to do... He told them that there was a trench of fire and screen of devastation suddenly stood between him and the Prophet... It was the angels !!
* Abu Jahl asked if anyone can bring the innards of a camel and place it on the Prophet's back while prostrating... Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt did ... Fatma his daughter removed it .... The Prophet then prayed "Oh Allah! Seize Quraysh" and also mentioned each enemy by name... Each one had a terrible death in the Battle of Badr ...
* Due to the mistreatment the believers were experiencing while praying around the Ka'bah, the house of Arqam bin Abi Al-Arqam (at the foot of Mount Safa) became a secret centre for prayer ...
